Pastoral care
The Pastoral Secretary and team of Pastoral Visitors supports the congregation and their families by sharing their joys and sorrows. Visits are made to individuals at their home, in hospital or care homes or sometimes by a phone call, in times of joy when a new baby is born, when offspring take the next step and leave for University etc. or in times of sickness and bereavement. They provide a listening ear and may give practical help such as shopping.
Please contact our minister to arrange Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals. Please send a message via the contact us page, and you will receive a response.
As Pastoral Secretary I keep our Minister up to date with needs as they arise, and he visits with Communion if wished. I compile a prayer list for Sunday services to continue that spiritual care.
We continue that support and fellowship through social activities including:
-
Toddler groups at Norton and Central
-
Lunches at Norton
-
Two Fellowship Groups - the Butterfly Club which meets at Norton Methodist Church and Thursday Afternoon Fellowship Group which meets in individual's homes or in a cafe, a garden centre or an occasional visit to a theatre.
-
There are two on-line social groups: one every lunchtime on weekdays, and another on a Wednesday evening.
-
There is a cinema group for those who enjoy a visit to the cinema but would like to go with friends. That meets whenever we see a film that we think sounds interesting!
We have a Bible Conversation Group meeting weekly on Friday lunchtime and providing an opportunity to explore Bible texts informally, so that everyone can join in and contribute to the discussion. We continue our conversation over a light lunch.
If you wish to get in touch with us about any pastoral matters, please contact us, speak to myself, a minister or a steward.
